Bridging courses
Under the accreditation, all students who have completed the recognised Institute qualifications and new students enrolling into Institute courses will need to undertake a bridging program which will enable them to commence the ETITO-administered assessments in Standard Sets B and C.

Standard Set B: Capstone Knowledge of the Code
The Capstone Knowledge unit covers the legislative requirements, the Code of Professional Conduct for Authorised Financial Advisers and consumer protection laws.
Upon completion of this unit you will be able to:
- explain the different types of participants and terms used in the Financial Advisers Act and the register of financial services providers
- demonstrate understanding of consumer legislation, and disclosure and conduct obligations of AFAs
- outline the standards and requirements of the Code of Professional Conduct for AFAs
- describe the particular roles and responsibilities for complaint resolution and any consequences for AFAs.

Demonstrate understanding of legislative requirements for registration and authorisation of AFAs.
Knowledge of the Code and consumer protection laws.
Standard Set C: Capstone Professional Practice
The Capstone Professional Practice unit covers the requirements of Standard Set C comprising the six-step advice process, and the application of legislative requirements, standards and guidelines for an authorised financial adviser (AFA).
Upon completion of this unit you will be able to:
- establish an effective relationship with your client in the context of providing financial advice
- define the nature of the client and AFA relationship
- identify methods to gather appropriate client information for the client’s file
- analyse client requirements and their risk profile in the context of their financial situation
- develop appropriate financial strategies and solutions for your client
- communicate appropriate financial strategies and solutions to your client
- implement the financial strategies and solutions on your client’s behalf
- monitor your client’s financial strategies and solutions
- interpret relevant legislation and regulations, industry and professional codes as applied to your role as an AFA
- maintain client records in accordance with legislative requirements.
This unit explains the financial advice process, your role as an AFA in that process, who your clients are and how you give them financial planning advice.
