Special Consideration Special consideration is any set of circumstances which disadvantages a student’s study program to a serious extent, and results in an inability to sit a scheduled exam or complete an assignment. The Institute recognises that part-time distance education study can sometimes be difficult and taxing and is supportive of students in difficult circumstances. Special consideration is typically given in the instance of a serious medical condition, in cases of hardship or trauma, or on compassionate grounds. Work commitments are highly unlikely to be accepted as a reason for special consideration. To apply for special consideration please go to the Institute website and complete the special consideration form. Applications for special consideration should be made no later than ten business days after the scheduled exam date and should be addressed to Student Support. Applications must be accompanied by evidence supporting the grounds for the application, usually an original medical certificate. You will be notified by the Institute in writing about the result of your application for special consideration prior to the release of your results. Application forms for Special Consideration are available from the Downloads page.
