Mr Karl Armstrong Fox ANZIIF (Snr Assoc) CIP Executive General Manager NZI

Karl Armstrong joined NZI in 1971 and in 1977 was asked to participate in the UK Training scheme for 18 months in London and ended up staying for eighteen years. During his time in the United Kingdom, Karl managed the Birmingham operation of NZI Ltd and subsequently moved to Leeds to run the General Accident branch.

In 1994, Karl returned to Wellington as Commercial Business Manager. In 1997, he began setting up NZI Accident Insurance ready for the opening of the ACC workers account and remained for another year until the incoming Labour government sold it to ACC.

Karl then took up the role of Assistant General Manager Underwriting and when NZI was purchased by IAG Ltd in 2003, he took on the role as Head of Underwriting and Risk Management for the New Zealand operations, covering the State and NZI brands.

In August 2008, Karl was appointed as the Executive General Manager at NZI.
