Why Risk It?
Why Risk It? has been developed by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) on behalf of ANZIIF Corporate Supporters. It is designed to assist teachers to develop programs in financial literacy and foster interest in insurance careers at a secondary school level.
It is supported and endorsed by the Federal Government’s Financial Literacy Foundation’s national strategy, to assist all Australian’s to increase their financial knowledge, make informed financial decisions and better manage their money.
ANZIIF’s core objective is to engage positively with the broader community to support the socio-economic well being of our society. The development of Why Risk It? is just one aspect of a broader program to spread the knowledge concerning insurance and build the profile of insurance, by demystifying and explaining the industry and how it works.
The resources, including a DVD and classroom workbook, were sent out to every secondary school in Australia.
Why Risk It? aims to provide students with opportunities to develop:
An understanding of the underpinning concepts of, and reasons for, insurance
An awareness of a range of types of insurance
Knowledge of key aspects of these types of insurance
Consumer and financial literacy in the context of insurance
