InSITE a bonus for CIPs
Tony trialled InSITE with a view to adopting it to address staff compliance requirements. He must comply with ASIC PS 146, maintain his CIP status and undertake a variety of continuing education annually as part of his job. He's found online learning useful vehicle to enhance his program of continuing education.

Exploring a range of the InSITE activities available, from introductory programs on general insurance and risk management to mini-tutorials on the FSRA, Tony also made use of the lecture notes, Journal articles and practice tools. "I found the learning material to be extremely thorough and comprehensive, providing a means of building knowledge from relatively brief overview sessions to more in-depth material. The ability to review work already completed provided reassurance that all aspects of the subject had been covered and to refresh the memory on important aspects which might need revisiting." Tony's experience with the interactive group workshops was also positive. "I found the facilitation aspect to be responsive and timely, even down to the acknowledgement that a given 'model answer' may require revision. The level of feedback really stands out as a bonus for online learning."

Tony notes that InSITE's planning, tracking and reporting mechanism for individual users, in the form of the Learning Diary, adds rigour that may be missing from self-maintained diary systems. "It leaves little doubt as to the status of continuing education at any given stage. The foreshadowed ability to integrate other continuing education activities with the online learning diary would be a distinct advantage."

Great facilitation for interactive online workshops
A motor vehicle underwriter from Automotive Global Insurance Pty Ltd based in New South Wales, Dwight has found the education resource catalogue on InSITE's homepage especially useful. "Breaking up the learning activities by industry sector relevance, level of difficulty and learning mode will allow me to plan my own program of continuing education and select relevant activities at first glance."

Participating in one of the interactive workshops on offer, the Australian General Insurance Law Update, Dwight comments, "I felt that the facilitation was good and especially liked the pre-test, welcome sections and opportunity for a wrap-up discussion among participants. We learn basic information about the people we'll be working with throughout the workshop, and finally compare what we've experienced in the learning process. The environment is very open and reinforces the benefits of group learning."

Overseas member finds InSITE relevant for compliance
Based in Reading, UK with Marsh Ltd., Richard has found InSITE an invaluable way to keep up-to-date with the Australian insurance industry. "The concept of group learning is of immense interest, and I have found this on-line tool to be a great help. Although I usually work within the UK or Lloyds market, it has been great to briefly return to Australia via this forum."

From a compliance perspective, Richard must engage in a minimum level of continuing education annually, like many of his Australian peers, and feels that InSITE will complement his company's own online training provided through his local insurance institute. "Topics on InSITE that are relevant to the UK company and Contract Law will be especially useful for us to access. I think InSITE will be a great aid to those who are joining the industry now and will also assist those that, like me, will revisit the site to refresh specific areas of our understanding of the industry."
