About InSITE

The InSITE Educational Program

The program is comprised of learning activities, each with learning goals, which cover a specific topic and take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

Units covering similar topics are grouped together in workshops or tutorials. Participants can mix and match activities to create a package of programs that suits their own interests and needs.

A team of experienced educators and industry experts develop each InSITE learning activity. Selection of these experts is rigorous. Peer recognition of expert status and freedom from commercial bias are both minimum requirements. The many wonderful expert contributors are acknowledged in the authority section of all learning activities.

Each activity is introduced by an online facilitator who leads participants through the units and workshops.

InSITE Learning Activities

All InSITE activities can be completed at any time convenient to the learner. There are no requirements to complete any activity in a single session. InSITE's personal learning journal keeps track of where the learner is up to, so an interrupted session can be picked up again at any time in the future.

An InSITE facilitator always guides learners through each activity.

Each 15 or 30 minute learning activity has specific learning goals. Activities come in a variety of learning styles or formats including:

  • Resource material in the form of presentations, lecture notes, interactive lecture notes, and reference sheets
  • Quizzes
  • Case studies for discussion
  • Worksheets and other tools
  • Other educational activities and exercises

Each activity type has a unique icon and descriptor to allow learners to easily recognise their preferred learning format.

InSITE Workshops and Tutorials

Learning activities are combined into workshops or tutorials to create more comprehensive learning experiences for the user. Workshops tend to be 2 hours or longer and always involve some group interaction. Participants do not have to be online together to complete a workshop or tutorial.

Mini-tutorials take one hour or less to complete but standard tutorials may be longer. Tutorials do not involve group work.
