
Institute staff and industry specialists
have developed this program to provide the underpinning
knowledge required to attain compliance with ASIC PS 146
at the Tier 2 level. This program is ASIC-accredited and
contains the most up-to-date regulatory information.
The first stream of this program is designed for
people working in the general insurance sector. The
second stream has been customised for people working
in the insurance broking sector. Both streams provide
for all required Tier 2 general insurance competencies and
cover:
- Australian Financial Environment
- Australian Insurance Market
- Legal Issues
- General Insurance Code of Practice
- Privacy
- Customer Service.
Each section contains relevant content,
explanatory charts and graphs, case studies and self-assessment
questions.
It should take between 15-25 hours
to complete this program, depending on your level of knowledge
and experience, and aptitude for study.
Assessments
Assessment for the Institute's Tier 2 General Insurance
compliance training program
consists of:
- An online examination to test underlying knowledge,
and
- An observation of compliance related workplace skills.
The examination will consist of 80 multiple choice questions, which are divided into six sections. Please note the final result is calculated on the most recent attempt.
Demonstration of relevant skills in
an interaction or series of interactions with clients, will
be observed by a workplace manager or supervisor. The results
of the observation will be integrated with the examination
result to determine an overall graded result. This overall
result will be equated to 'competent' or 'not yet competent'.
An alternative assessment activity can be arranged for those
who do not interact with clients in their job role or who
are sole business operators.
An Institute Statement of Attainment
for Tier 2 compliance will be issued to candidates who are
assessed as 'competent'.
